The Design

Inspiration

The whole design was bathed in morning light and almost-color. I wanted to create something that felt vintage but fresh for the modern bride—a tea-length dress, pink champagne, a vespa, and opulent florals were major design points to create a whimsical world. Jackie, J. Saint Clair Photography, and I wanted to fill this world with things unique to our vendors, so we used family heirlooms and as many locally sourced pieces as we could find. The idea was that two people come together and share their history, so we wanted to honor that in the design.

The Venue: Estate at River Run

The Estate at River Run served not only as the backdrop for this wedding shoot, but partially inspired the initial design. Originally a private Georgian style estate, River Run has all the charm and grandeur necessary for a floral filled luxurious morning fete.

The Florals: Sassy Snap Dragon Florals

Sassy Snapdragon Florals created opulent and whimsical floral installations for this shoot using as many locally sourced blooms as possible. I’m still not over the poppies in particular! Sassy focused on movement and space when creating these pieces, filling every crevice with lilac hues and moss. The showstopper in this design was the piano installation in the Wedgewood Ballroom, a constructed tree made of branches and surrounded by the similar florals that adorned the tablescape.

A Touch of Whimsy at this luxe Estate at River Run Wedding

For this design, I wanted to create something fresh and whimsical but steeped in history. We utilized antique church pews from Something Vintage, local vintage champagne coups from Emerson James, a family ring, and a vintage 1962 Vespa from 7 Hills Scooter Club (I love a Vespa moment!) to create this whimsical world that is still inhabitable for the modern bride. To top it off, it couldn’t have been captured better than by J St. Clair Photography and Scott Woofter Films!
